about alive

Making creative practice a part of daily lives

In a world increasingly powered by technology, more and more of us feel the need for creative expression. Alive was created to make it easier for everyone to rediscover an old hobby or explore something completely new, with guidance (and moral support!) of skilled artist mentors in a warm & vibrant studio space.

The space was started by me in October 2023 with a vision to make creative practice a part of daily lives for busy adults. I don't call myself an artist; my identity has primarily been attached to corporate leadership after an intense 11 year run that I thoroughly enjoyed and thrived at. That said I have always loved exploring and learning different art forms just for the joy of creating. But there was a clear gap of spaces that offer an easy to access, non-intimidating, yet engaging ways of sharing this love for art. While some forms of art experiences existed, they ended up being either for committed artists with rigid schedules and deep focus on a single art form or very humdrum independent workshops that quickly lost the novelty.

A teenage dream of having an art cafe suddenly started to seem a lot more serious - the more I viewed it with my biz-hat, the more it made business sense too! Enter Alive Studio - a hand-crafted experience for those who love art, to explore multiple forms, different mediums and learn at their own pace with our in-house artists. The key aspect we stressed upon when designing Alive was that it should fuss-free i.e. one shouldn't need to commit to a schedule or investing months into learning till you are sure. It should have the spontaneous wholesomeness of walking into your neighbourhood cafe for a coffee & reading time :)

So we share our cherished space with you to drop in anytime for a few hours of artistic exploration, with bottomless coffee and warm community of creatives brimming with inspiration!
