Diganta Gain

Mentor, Fine Arts

"At the core of my artistic practice lies the theme of cosmic ideas. There was a pivotal moment when I realized that, despite our efforts with larger telescopes, the only revelation awaiting us is the immensity of space. I intentionally refrain from explicitly revealing my emotions in my work, opting to use the universe as a metaphor. Extracting intricate details from images of the universe, I delve into their richness and variations through the lens of photographic sources."

Hailing from the culturally rich Kolkata, Diganta is a force to reckon with, with his unique outlook to art and steady self-assuredness. He completed his Masters in Fine Arts from Rabindra Bharati University with a specialisation in painting. His artwork often reflects his unique creative language, exploring different mediums and applications to create abstract representations of cosmos or even landscapes. His command on watercolours, evolution of art history and ability to visualise what feels impossible to an untrained eye make him stand apart.

He holds a special relationship with his father whose legacy he holds high with post-humous collaborative artworks. Don't miss the display in the studio wall of his paintings displaying pointillism techniques in rural landscapes - all of these pieces are his father's original live monochrome sketches that he added colour to with watercolours and gave them a new life.
